Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic caused a little controversy at the weekend after he failed to wear a poppy on his away shirt when the Red Devils took on Bournemouth in their Premier League clash at the weekend.
The 30-year-old Serbian international took to his official Instagram account to give the reason behind the decision.
According to him, the poppy reminded him when his village was destroyed by Nato-led forces when he was young.
Matic is expected to miss out on poppy wearing when Premier League players do so this weekend for Remembrance Sunday.
Despite the controversy surrounding the former Chelsea player, Manchester United were able to pick up the maximum points after the Red Devils came from behind to beat their hosts 2-1 in the Matchweek 11 clash.
The former European champions played second fiddle for the majority of the first half and rightfully trailed to an 11th-minute goal from Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson.
Manchester United recovered from the bad start to draw level in the 35th minutes off an assist from Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez.
The Red Devils secured the points in the second minute of added time through substitute Marcus Rashford after good work from French midfielder Paul Pogba.
Read Deal!!! Why Sarri was snubbed by star player in the past
It has been revealed that West London outfit Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri was left disappointed after Cagliari star midfielder Nicolo Barella turned down the opportunity to join the Stamford Bridge in the last January winter transfer window.
Nicolo Barella was reportedly available for a move to the Stamford Bridge with the Italian Serie A side willing to let him leave but the move was blocked by the player on claims that he wants to remain in the country because of his family.
It was expected that Nicolo Barella joins the club as a replacement for France international Cesc Fabregas who left the club to join French Ligue 1 outfit AS Monaco.
However, manager Maurizio Sarri could still be interested in a move for Nicolo Barella but they will again be stopped by the transfer ban on the team after falling short of FIFA rules.
It is also unclear if Nicolo Barella is still willing to leave Italy as he could still hold the excuse of wanting to be with his family.
Meanwhile, Chelsea have got France international N’Golo Kante, Jorginho at the midfield while there are possibilities of adding up Mateo Kovacic who is on loan from Spanish La Liga side Real Madrid.
Why Sarri’s Juventus move could still happen
It has been suggested that there is a possibility of manager Maurizio Sarri moving away from the West London outfit Chelsea to join the Italian Serie A champions Juventus ahead of the coming season.
There are speculations that the Italian boss could be sacked by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich as he is not convinced about his ability to deliver success while his relationship with the fans remains a major concern.
It is therefore claimed that Roman Abramovich will wait for the outcome of the Europa League finals before making a decision on the future of the former Napoli boss.
However, Maurizio Sarri has already been linked with a return to Italy as he is reportedly wanted by a number of clubs in the Serie A including AS Roma and Juventus.
Serie A champions Juventus’ manager Allegri has already declared his decision to leave the club and manager Maurizio is being linked with a switch which he has dismissed but there are feelers that the move could still happen if he lose his job with the Blues team.
It is therefore claimed that Maurizio Sarri has met with the criteria needed at the Old Lady and is tipped to succeed if handed the job but that will not happen should Chelsea decide to keep him for the coming season.
Although the performance of the Blues team was not convincing in the concluding season the Italian boss has managed to help the Blues team return to Champions League with a top-four finish.
Done Deal: Arsenal Defender Joins FC Twente
Arsenal defender Julio Pleguezuelo has signed for Dutch Eredivisie club FC Twente following the expiration of his contract with the Gunners.
His transfer to FC Twente was confirmed by the Dutch club.
The 22-year-old has signed a two-year contract with FC Twente with the option of another year.
Spanish defender Julio Pleguezuelo joins FC Twente after his Arsenal contract ended this summer.
Julio Pleguezuelo spent two years at the famed La Masia Academy before signing for Arsenal in 2013.
The Spaniard spent six years in North London before moving to FC Twente.
He didn’t make any single appearance in the Premier League.
His only outing for the Arsenal senior team came during the 2-1 win over League One side Blackpool in the Carabao Cup earlier this season.
Julio Pleguezuelo captained the Arsenal youth teams during his time with the Gunners and also spent some time in Spain with clubs like Mallorca and Gimnastic de Terragona.
The Spaniard was sent out on loan to the two aforementioned Spanish sides.
Despite the average defensive showing from Arsenal during the just concluded Premier League season, Julio Pleguezuelo didn’t get his chance to shine for the Gunners in the league.
The Gunners conceded 51 goals in just 38 games in the Premier League.
United set to land former Madrid target, talks have reached advanced stage
It is reported that the English Premier League outfit Man United are close to agreeing on a deal to secure the signature of Fluminense striker Pedro as the summer transfer window is set to be opened.
The Reds Devils boss is keen to land new players as he hopes to build a new and formidable team and Pedro has been identified as one.
Pedro was earlier on the radar of Spanish La Liga outfit Real Madrid and was close to joining them but the deal collapsed because he suffered a cruciate ligament injury which kept him sidelined for seven months.
The latest report claims that Man United are also in the race for the star player and have approached an official of the South American outfit with talks already ongoing.
A number of players are likely to leave the Old Trafford once the summer transfer window is opened as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will not be willing to work with them anymore.
He complained about their lack of commitment to the club and their failure to sacrifice for the team, a development that contributed to why the Red Devils did not secure qualification to the Champions League as they finished sixth on the log.
However, Real Madrid is willing to pay the sum of €25 million (£22m) for Pedro which means the same amount could be expected from the Red Devils.
Chelsea to pay £32 for this player who is not affected by ban
The West London outfit Chelsea have been handed a transfer ban that will stop them from registering new players for the next two transfer windows.
The Blues team went against the FIFA rule on signing foreign minors and that has attracted the ban.
This, therefore, means the West London outfit will not be able to register any new player as such, having new faces in the coming season aside American star Christian Pulisic whose deal has already been completed before the ban was placed.
However, Chelsea have got one Real Madrid player, Mateo Kovacic who could be available for them despite the transfer ban to bring in before the start of the season.
Mateo Kovacic registered as a loan player after spending some time at the Stamford Bridge and that is the only saving grace the Blues have got because they have an option of a permanent deal which is now being considered for activation.
However, in very clear terms, a permanent deal for Kovacic will not be affected by the FIFA ban that prevents Chelsea from signing players for the next two transfer windows.
Meanwhile, Mateo Kovacic’s performance within his one-year loan spell at the Stamford Bridge remains an impressive one after playing 32 times in the Premier League.
The biggest shocking deal could be set to happen
There are fears according to emerging reports that Real Madrid forward and Wales international Gareth Bale could be heading to the English Premier League runner up Liverpool as soon as the summer transfer window is opened.
Gareth Bale has been linked away from the Bernabeu with claims that he would not be able to work under manager Zinedine Zidane as a result of the sour relationship between them.
According to the director of OKDiario, Eduardo Inda, Gareth Bale seems to be tired of life at the Spanish capital as he has resulted in playing golf these days with Real Madrid also looking to offload him in the summer window.
The former Tottenham star was, therefore, linked with a move to Man United with claims that he would be a part of the rebuilding process by manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but there could be a big twist with Liverpool already mentioned.
The report making rounds remains one of the most unbelievable, knowing that Liverpool have got one of the best attack lines with Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah who are all in good form.
More so, one of the reasons why manager Jurgen Klopp has insisted on keeping the players together is because of the assurance that the trio will not be leaving at the end of the season but the addition of Gareth Bale would not be a bad idea.
Major unrest at Madrid over Liverpool star
Emerging reports at the Spanish La Liga outfit Real Madrid reveal that there seem to be unrest between the club president Florentino Perez and manager Zinedine Zidane over the club’s interest in Senegal international and club interestar Sadio Mane ahead of the coming summer transfer window.
The former Southampton man has been on the radar of the Spanish side as he has impressed this season with a total of 26 goals across all competitions in addition to helping the Reds team to reach the finals of the UEFA Champions League.
He has gone on to score 59 goals in 122 appearances for Liverpool since joining in 2016.
Reports claim that the Merseyside outfit have requested for the sum of £173 million which is now the major contending issue at the Spanish capital.
It is claimed that Madrid president has refused to sanction the move because of the huge fee but there has been pressure from Zinedine Zidane insisting that the amount be spent on the player.
Zinedine Zidane is keen to work with the Senegal international but the major point of concern for Florentino Perez is the huge fee, knowing that Sadio Mane will not be the only player that would be welcomed to the club ahead of the coming season for the rebuilding of the team.
However, it is yet to be seen if Liverpool will let go of Sadio Mane after Jurgen Klopp claimed that he would keep his team together.
Meanwhile, having scored against Real Madrid in last season’s Champions League final, Mane is gearing up to face Tottenham in the European showpiece on June 1.
Deal on!!! Chelsea suffer major blow, Cech plays down move
The West London outfit Chelsea have suffered a major blow in their bid to land Arsenal legendary goalkeeper Petr Cech as their sporting director ahead of the coming season.
Petr Cech has already announced his decision to quit active football at the end of the season with his next step yet to be known but will not happen until after he has played his last Arsenal game, the Europa League finals, against Chelsea later on Thursday.
It was earlier reported that the stopper has got an offer from Chelsea and Arsenal to take charge of the youth team but a report yesterday claims that the West London outfit are offering Petr Cech a sporting director role to have him return back to the Stamford Bridge.
However, the legendary stopper, who is one of the best the English Premier League has ever had refuted the claim that he would be joining Chelsea as their new reporting director.
According to him, no decision has been made, stressing that it would only happen after he has played his last Arsenal game.
Howbeit, Petr Cech seeks to leave the stage while the ovation is very high by lifting the Europa League title with the North London outfit Arsenal later on Thursday.
Deal On!!! United’s major summer priorty revealed after star player’s exit is confirmed
Emerging report claims that the English Premier League outfit Man United have resigned their faith to losing star goalkeeper David De Gea at the end of the season.
Reports claim that the Spanish stopper has already made up his mind and there can be no going back on it.
This leaves the Red Devils with a big assignment to find a replacement at the end of the season, knowing that he is a major strength of the team and there would be a need for a new goalkeeper with big quality.
The words of legendary goalkeeper Alex Ferguson has been made reference to that no player is bigger than the club especially when he insists on leaving and refusing to sign a new deal.
It would be recalled that the Red Devils insisted on keeping David De Gea by activating a clause in his contract to have him stay for another 12 months.
Man United fans have also expressed their wish to have the star player leave on the social media as they insisted that there is no point keeping someone who does not want to be at the club.
However, a number of names have been linked with a move to the club and it is expected that a decision be made by the Red Devils as soon as the summer transfer window is opened.
Done deal!!! United’s first signing to under go medicals
The latest report reveals that the English Premier League outfit Man United have agreed on a deal with Swansea winger Daniel James and he is set to be their first summer transfer signing.
It is reported that medicals have already been scheduled to conclude the conditions for the star winger to join the Old Trafford.
Daniel James had impressed with Swansea in the just concluded season which makes him attract a number of interests from top Premier League sides but the race was won by Man United as they are keen to rebuild a new team with a number of players expected to leave.
It is claimed that personal terms have already been agreed while a fee of £15 would be paid with an official announcement due for next week.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already had the backing of some of the former players to secure the signature of Daniel James with hope that the winger will come in with his quality to help the team.
Daniel James enjoyed a superb form this season, scoring five goals and delivering about 10 assists to help his team with this season while he was already secured a call-up to the Wales national team.
However, Man United are expected to sign more players in this summer transfer window while a number of them are also expected to leave the Old Trafford to be able to free up space.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have a £100 million kitty to land more players to be able to compete for titles and return the team to the Champions League.
