Chelsea legend Pat Nevin has given his backing to manager Maurizio Sarri to give opportunities to youth players in the club as long as they are able to prove that they can play at that level.

Nevin made reference to two young loanees Mason Mount and Fikayo who are currently in the Derby Country team that will face the West London team in the Carabao Cup.

The two lads have been very impressive for the Championship side and they have been able to catch attention with their performance against Manchester United which they came out victorious.

Both players signed for Rams on a season loan and have been handed the permission to play against heir parent club on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup fixture.

However, Nevin says both players could be asked to return and handed a first team role at the Stamford Bridge if they have what t take to so do, noting that they can only end like Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek who are both young lads in the Chelsea team.

Meanwhile, it is unsure if they are both ready for the first team under the Italian boss at the moment as a result of the competition they might have to face from other established players.
