Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has reportedly told close friends that he would like to play for Premier League giants Manchester United ahead of the upcoming transfer window in the New Year.
According to the report from Sport English via Caughtoffside, the 30-year old is strongly interested in a move to either Manchester United or French champions Paris Saint Germain (PSG).
Karim Benzema has been a loyal servant to European champions Real Madrid for the best part of a decade and it could be time for him to leave the Spanish capital club following the poor start to the season.
The French striker was an integral part of the squad that won three successive Champions League titles under compatriot Zinedine Zidane, but his exit has coincided with the poor run of form being suffered by the team.
Benzema and Real Madrid have struggled to cope without Zidane who resigned at the end of last season.
The situation has not been helped by the loss of proven goalscorer Cristiano Ronaldo to Juventus during the summer’s transfer window.
Without Zidane and Ronaldo, Karim Benzema has struggled with just five goals to his name in all competitions and a move away from the club could rejuvenate his form.
