Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar has confirmed that he will continue his football career with the Italian Serie A side despite the overtures of Premier League giants Manchester United.
The Slovakian international centre-back was heavily linked the Red Devils during the summer’s transfer window.
Skiriniar, 23, spoke about the Manchester United interest and the desire to stay at Inter Milan in a chat with popular news portal ESPN as he pointed out that he’s flattered at the interest from Jose Mourinho and the former Premier League winners.
Portuguese tactician Mourinho requested for a new centre-back in the summer but he didn’t get his wish.
Apart from Milan Skriniar, Manchester United were also linked with other centre backs like Napoli stopper Kalidou Koulibaly, German World Cup winner Jerome Boateng, Atletico Madrid skipper Diego Costa, Leicester City defender Harry Maguire and Tottenham Hotspur star Toby Alderweireld.
Without a new centre-back, Manchester United have struggled defensively in the new campaign.
The Red Devils have conceded a whopping 14 goals in just eight games and they are the joint fourth worst team defensively in the Premier League this season.
The lack of defensive solidity has seen Manchester United lose three league games already in eight games.
