Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar has confirmed that he will continue his football career with the Italian Serie A side despite the overtures of Premier League giants Manchester United.
The Slovakian international centre-back was heavily linked the Red Devils during the summer’s transfer window.
Skiriniar, 23, spoke about the Manchester United interest and the desire to stay at Inter Milan in a chat with popular news portal ESPN as he pointed out that he’s flattered at the interest from Jose Mourinho and the former Premier League winners.
Portuguese tactician Mourinho requested for a new centre-back in the summer but he didn’t get his wish.
Apart from Milan Skriniar, Manchester United were also linked with other centre backs like Napoli stopper Kalidou Koulibaly, German World Cup winner Jerome Boateng, Atletico Madrid skipper Diego Costa, Leicester City defender Harry Maguire and Tottenham Hotspur star Toby Alderweireld.
Without a new centre-back, Manchester United have struggled defensively in the new campaign.
The Red Devils have conceded a whopping 14 goals in just eight games and they are the joint fourth worst team defensively in the Premier League this season.
The lack of defensive solidity has seen Manchester United lose three league games already in eight games.
Hazard slams Zidane’s claim in United offer
Hazard has dismissed claims that he will consider a move to English Premier League outfit Man United should his schoolboy idol Zinedine Zidane eventually takes over at the Old Trafford.
The Belgium international is reportedly destined for a move to the Spanish La Liga outfit Real Madrid but United are reportedly making efforts to tempt him into joining the Old Trafford.
This, therefore, sparked suggestion that the Blues star could have a change of mind and consider a move to the other EPL side should Zidane take over at the Old Trafford.
In his reaction, Eden Hazard admitted that going to Real Madrid without Zidane will make it look different but that will not stop his move because the club has not changed.
He added that irrespective of where the former Real Madrid boss finds himself, he will not be lured to join him but will go straight to the club of his dream.
However, the Red Devils are keen on a replacement for their sacked manager Jose Mourinho despite installing an interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Zidane who is currently without a job since leaving the Los Blancos is, therefore, being linked alongside former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte and Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Man United Midfielder Could Still Join Celtic On Loan, Journalist Reveals
Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth has revealed that Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay could still leave the club in the current January transfer window.
The young midfielder has been strongly linked with a temporary move away from the club but Red Devils boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is adamant that the player will stay at Old Trafford beyond this month.
Scottish Premiership champions Celtic are said to be interested in a loan deal that will see the 22-year-old spend the remainder of the season at the club.
Sheth spoke about Scott McTominay and Celtic while he was speaking on the Transfer Talk podcast via the Daily Express.
He further revealed that the Scottish international will struggle to get playing minutes as long as the preferred midfield trio of Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic and Ander Herrera are free from injury.
Scott McTominay still has to contend with other midfielders like summer signing Fred, Andreas Pereira and Marouane Fellaini for a place in the starting XI if one or more of the aforementioned trio miss out.
Belgian international Fellaini is currently out injured with a calf problem and is not expected back in the team until the end of next month at least.
Man United In £25m Bid For In-form Dutch Winger Bergwijn
Three-time European champions Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a move for highly rated PSV Eindhoven winger Steven Bergwijn.
According to the publication from tasteoffootball, Manchester United have been impressed with the impact that the young winger has made in a short time in Dutch football.
Steven Bergwijn has been in sensational form for PSV Eindhoven for the better part of the last two seasons.
His form has attracted the interest of major European clubs including Old Trafford club Manchester United.
The 21-year-old has scored nine goals and provided eight assists in 17 appearances for PSV Eindhoven in this campaign.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been drawn to his immense qualities and he could prompt senior club officials to make a bid for the two-cap Dutch international.
A bid of around £25m should be enough to secure his transfer.
It remains to be seen whether he would be able to break into the Manchester United starting XI ahead of established Red Devils stars like Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.
Lingard, Rashford and Martial have been in great form with the trio playing their various roles in the impressive Red Devils’ run of seven straight wins since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed the interim Manchester United manager.
Journalist Advises Solskjaer To Sell THREE Players
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been told to sell three players as he attempts to take the club back to the where it belongs, the top of European football.
Journalist Philib de Brun, via the Daily Star, thinks that the three players namely Marouane Fellaini, Marcos Rojo and Antonio Valencia have nothing to offer the club.
He further said that they should be offloaded in the current January transfer window.
Philib de Brun is the Beyond The Pitch podcast host.
According to him, Marouane Fellaini is not suited to the new playing style under interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Norwegian tactician Solskjaer was appointed the interim Red Devils manager in December shortly after the dismissal of Jose Mourinho.
Fellaini was a regular under Mourinho but his role at the club has been reduced since the advent of Solskjaer as the new Manchester United manager.
The Belgian has been ruled out for at least four weeks with calf problem.
He still has 18 months left on the two-year contract that he signed in the summer.
De Brun also thinks Marcos Rojo should be sold mainly because of his consistent injury problems while he said that the best days of Antonio Valencia are behind him.
Both Rojo and Valencia have six months left on their respective contracts at Old Trafford.
Pogba Will Commit Future To Man United Despite Juventus Interest
Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has made a remarkable U-turn on his future at the club after it was revealed that the Frenchman is ready to sign a new Red Devils contract.
According to The Sun, his agent Mino Raiola wants to discuss the long-term future of his client at Old Trafford.
It was revealed that the player has changed his mind and he’s ready to commit his future to the club.
The latest development is a far cry from some weeks back when Jose Mourinho was the Manchester United manager.
Paul Pogba fell out with Portuguese tactician Mourinho last year and the Frenchman was keen on leaving the club with strong interest from Italian champions Juventus.
The Italians still retain an interest in Pogba but it won’t be easy following the exit of Mourinho who was sacked last month.
Paul Pogba has found a new lease of life under interim Red Devils manager with five goals and four assists in the six games he has played under the former Manchester United striker.
He scored his fifth goal in as many Premier League games on Saturday during the home clash with Brighton and Hove Albion.
Manchester United won the game 2-1 to close the gap on Chelsea in the Champions League race.
Arsenal Won’t Sign A Replacement For ‘Injured’ Bellerin – Report
Arsenal were dealt a big blow at the weekend when key defender Hector Bellerin was stretchered off during the Gunners’ London Derby clash with Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday night.
The Spanish international right-back could miss the remainder of the season but the Gunners are unlikely to sign a replacement for him.
According to the London Evening Standard, Arsenal won’t sign a replacement if the Spaniard would be out for a long time.
Hector Bellerin suffered what looked like a serious knee injury while he was trying to win the ball back from Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso in the second half of the league encounter.
He was replaced by Egyptian international midfielder Mohamed ElNeny shortly after he was taken off the field on a stretcher.
Bellerin was making a return to the Arsenal starting XI for the Chelsea game after a month out with calf problem.
The Barcelona Academy graduate made his return from the calf injury in the penultimate league game against West Ham United.
Arsenal were beaten 1-0 in their London Derby clash with the Hammers courtesy a goal from English defender Declan Rice.
The extent of the knee injury sustained by Hector Bellerin will be determined by the Arsenal medical team in the coming days.
Denis Suarez: Deulofeu Emerges As An Arsenal Agent
Watford star Gerard Deulofeu is not an Arsenal player but the Spaniard has been playing a key role for the Gunners in their pursuit of his friend and compatriot Denis Suarez.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move for Denis Suarez with recent reports claiming that a transfer is imminent.
Spanish news portal Sport claim that Gerard Deulofeu has been acting as an Arsenal agent in a bid for the transfer to see the light of the day.
It was revealed that the Watford winger has been telling Denis Suarez how Arsenal is a great club so as to convince his friend to join him in London.
The pair could reunite in the United Kingdom capital of London if Denis Suarez is able to complete his much publicised transfer to Arsenal.
The Gunners’ training ground is very close to the Watford training ground meaning that both players could pretty much see each other whenever they want.
Their friendship is dated back to 2015 when Denis Suarez was at Spanish La Liga side Sevilla who also had Deulofeu in their playing squad.
The former Everton player was on loan at the Andalusian club from Spanish La Liga champions Barcelona during that period.
Jamie Redknapp Slams Arsenal Over £40m Transfer Mistake
Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp has berated North London giants Arsenal for letting midfielder Aaron Ramsey run down his contract at the club.
Ramsey is expected to leave Arsenal as a free agent upon the expiration of his contract with the club.
His contract runs out at the end of the season and recent reports suggest that his next destination is the Juventus Stadium in Italy.
In his column for the Daily Mail, Jamie Redknapp questioned why Arsenal would let an important player like Ramsey leave the club before bemoaning the inability to recoup any transfer fee for his exit.
The footballer turned pundit further said that Arsenal will have to spend £40m at least if they want to get a replacement for Aaron Ramsey in the summer.
Jamie Redknapp was speaking on the back of a very good performance from Ramsey in the London Derby clash with Chelsea on Saturday night in what was a Premier League game.
Aaron Ramsey produced a very good display to help the Gunners to a 2-0 victory over Chelsea courtesy goals from Alexandre Lacazette and Laurent Koscielny.
The two goals came in the first half as the Gunners closed in on Chelsea by moving to within three points on the league table.
Belgium International Talks Up Arsenal Transfer Despite Liverpool Interest From Wife
Olympiacos defender Bjorn Engels has talked up his desire to join Premier League giants Arsenal.
The 24-year-old spoke about his dream move in a recent interview with French publication L’Equipe via the Daily Express.
He further revealed that his wife is a staunch supporter of Premier League leaders and that she would prefer a move to the Reds rather than his dream transfer to Arsenal.
Bjorn Engels is on loan at Greek Super League giants Olympiacos from French Ligue 1 club Stade Reims.
The Belgian centre back was previously linked with the Premier League following the interest from Merseyside giants Everton.
Bjorn Engels has not played for Belgium at the senior level though he has featured for his country at other levels especially the age grade teams.
Arsenal are in need of defensive reinforcements but the North Londoners have not expressed an interest in the Belgian defender.
The Gunners have been able to keep just four clean sheets this season with the last of those coming during the London Derby clash with Chelsea on Saturday night in the Premier League.
Arsenal defeated Chelsea 2-0 courtesy first goals from Alexandre Lacazette and Laurent Koscielny thereby reducing the gap to the Blues to just three points in the keenly contested race for a top-four finish at the end of the season.
