Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has resumed his rivalry with Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho after the Frenchman said that the Portuguese tactician was the one responsible for Alexis Sanchez’ poor form with the Red Devils.
According to the report from renowned English news portal Daily Express, the Arsenal legend revealed that Alexis’ poor form is down to the current system employed by Mourinho and that the Chilean international star does not fit into it.
Arsene Wenger attained legendary status at Arsenal after he led the North Londoners to three Premier League titles and seven FA Cup titles during his 22-year reign at the club.
The 68-year-old also took Arsenal to the 2006 Champions League final in Paris before his side lost out 2-1 to eventual champions Barcelona.
During his time at Arsenal, Wenger endured a frosty relationship with Jose Mourinho especially when the Portuguese manager was in charge of the Chelsea squad.
The relationship between the two managers didn’t stop Alexis Sanchez from moving during the January transfer window.
He joined Manchester United from the Gunners in a swap deal involving Armenian playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan who moved to Arsenal in return.
Since he became a Red Devil, Alexis Sanchez has struggled for form netting just four goals in 25 appearances.
