Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud has advocated for his fellow French teammates to win the 2018 Ballon d’Or award.

The former Arsenal player believes that any of his teammates should be considered for the award as they deserve to be honoured for winning the World Cup.

Giroud said he will always vote for a Frenchman in as many opportunities he gets to cast a vote.

Meanwhile, Giroud admits Croatia star, Luka Modric also deserves the award having proven to be one of the best, winning the Champions League with Real Madrid back-to-back and also helping his side to the finals of the FIFA World Cup in Russia.

But the Frenchman says he not be considering the Croatia international and will only advocate for his fellow countryman.

The Blues striker listed Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann and Raphael Varane as suitable candidates who should be considered for the award because they also had great season with their clubs, winning titles and also lifting the World Cup.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah remains a major contender for the award having helped Liverpool reached the second place in the Premier League as well as reaching the Champions League finals.

The Egyptian was last season’s golden boot winner.
