Premier League giants Manchester United have been strongly linked with a move for Barcelona contract rebel Jordi Alba ahead of the next transfer window in January.
Spanish international left-back Alba is currently in a contract dispute with the Nou Camp giants according to a report from Talk Sport.
His Barcelona contract expires at the end of next season and the club is reluctant to hand the 29-year-old a fresh deal.
This is a strange development owing to the fact that Jordi Alba has established himself as one of the best left-backs in world football since he joined the club from fellow Spanish side Valencia.
Jordi Alba could be a replacement for English left-back Luke Shaw who’s enjoying some form of a renaissance at Manchester United.
He has recovered from both a serious leg injury and falling out of favour with manager Jose Mourinho to become one of the standout performers for the Red Devils this season.
The former Southampton defender also scored the first senior goal of his career in this campaign by netting the winning goal in the Red Devils’ opening game of the season, a 2-1 Premier League win over Leicester City at Old Trafford.
It was the first match of the new Premier League season.
