Swedish national team captain Andreas Granqvist has expressed interest in a shock move to Premier League giants Manchester United ahead of the next transfer window in January.
Granqvist, 33, spoke about Manchester United in an interview with Expressen after his Helsingborg side’s win over Falkenberg over the weekend.
Transfer rumours have linked Andreas Granqvist with a shock move to Old Trafford and the centre back says he’s flattered to be linked with the Red Devils.
Andreas Granqvist was part of the Sweden side that reached the quarterfinal stage at this summer’s FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia.
During the last transfer window in the summer, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho talked about his need for a new centre-back but the club failed to grant the Portuguese tactician his wish.
Players like Tottenham Hotspur star Toby Alderweireld, Leicester City defender Harry Maguire, Atletico Madrid captain Diego Godin and Bayern Munich centre-back Jerome Boateng were all linked with a move to Old Trafford but nothing came out of the links.
Without a new centre-back, Jose Mourinho and Manchester United have struggled in the new season.
The Red Devils have already lost three games in just eight Premier League matches and are currently in a disappointing eighth spot on the table.
