Manchester United signed Diogo Dalot from Porto during the summer window but the youngster couldn’t make his debut appearance — until Wednesday — due to injury.
The 19-year-old full-back was injured during the pre-season tour and was ruled out of action for more than a month.
However, the youngster returned to Mourinho’s starting lineup against Young Boys on Wednesday and was great throughout the fixture. He was quick in joining the attack, his crosses were topnotch, much to fans delight.
It wasn’t just the fans who praised the player for his wonderful debut, his teammate Paul Pogba equally showered praise on the Portuguese international.
According to the Frenchman —who scored two goals to give the Red Devils the victory, Dalot is a kid with lots of potentials.
He commends the youngster for putting up an impressive performance throughout the encounter.
While speaking to MUTV yesterday, the former Juventus playmaker admitted that the youngster played in a way that suited Mourinho’s tactical approach.
“For a debut, he did really well. He suited the team and I’m very happy to see him play like that. All the players were all really proud of him.” he said
Up next for Pogba and his teammates is a home game against Wolverhampton, whom Mourinho believes have settled pretty well in the League.
Wolverhampton were only promoted to the Premier League in August but they have shown they are not pushover.
Considering their recent run of results, United should earn the maximum three points. However, there are no longer underdogs in modern-day football, therefore, Mourinho and his men need to get ready for a crunch tie against the Wolves.
