Baba Rahman signed as left back from Augsburg for £22 million, who yearned for a start with the Blues in a battle with Filipe Luiz while they were both in Chelsea.
He left on loan to join German club Schalke 04 while the Brazilian left-back left for Atletico Madrid; Baba was never seen as a potential Chelsea left-back afterwards.

A few months later Rahman’s hidden option as part of the Blues was still established when Conte opted for Emerson from Roma.
