Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil is said to be getting attention from José Mourinho but the question remains – is the retired Germany international the best solution to Mourinho’s crises?
Mourinho was one of the managers tipped by bookmakers to be sacked by their respective employers before the end of the year as result of his poor start to the season.
However, that might have changed for now due to the club’s recent performances which have seen them recorded two back-to-back victories, scoring four goals in the process.
Despite the recent results, United’s problems still remain and that is lack of goalscoring chances and defensive fragility.
So far this season, Mourinho’s men have only managed a clean sheet which came against Burnley, a game before the international break.
The Red Devils are not strong enough at the back of the pitch, and Mourinho needs to add more depth to his defensive unit as soon as possible if he must win a silverware this season.
Adding Mesut Ozil to the team will surely have no impact on the team’s defensive ability as the German star isn’t known to possess any defensive trait.
The 29-year-old is known for his trademark passes at the middle of the pitch and that won’t help solve the defensive crises facing the team.
Mourinho needs to channel his money on getting better defenders during the winter window rather than spending a huge amount on the Arsenal’s midfielder who’s always seen at the attacking midfield position.
