Under-fire Manchester United chief Ed Woodward has reportedly revealed his joy for being able to sign four players to the Old Trafford outfits, though, they weren’t recommended by Mourinho.

A report from Manchester Evening News claimed that the club’s Vice-chairman was glad he brought-in Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant to the Theater of during the summer transfer window.

The same source also revealed that Woodward couldn’t hide his joy for the role he played in convincing Alexis Sanchez to joining Mourinho’s team despite interest from Pep Guardiola.

It was believed that Mourinho listed Chelsea winger Willian and Inter Milan player Ivan Perisic on the list of players he loves to have for this season but both players were ignored by his employers.

The Portuguese manager was also keen on bringing Leicester City defender Harry Maguire and Bayern Munich centre-back Jerome Boateng to Old Trafford during the summer window but the Portuguese manager’s offer wasn’t considered as Woodward didn’t make move for any of the players.

Since Mourinho became United manager in 2016, he has worked with a handful of world-class players including Zlatan Ibrahimovic (PSG), Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal), Paul Pogba(Juventus) and Romelu Lukaku(Everton).

Woodward’s decision to get the players of his choice didn’t go well with Mourinho who became furious with his employers before the start of the season.
