Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal is being linked with a shock move to Camp Nou in the next transfer market.
According to reports which broke out yesterday via Don Balon, the Spanish defender was said to have captured Valverde’s attention and the Argentine manager is now in the race to get his signature next year.
Though Monreal is surely one of the oldest Centre-backs in the world, Valverde believes the player’s experience will be needed in his mission to retain the La Liga title this season.
The question is will Unai Emery allow one of his trusted players leave the team by January?
Since he joined the Gunners from Malaga in 2013, the 32-year-old established himself as one of the most important player in the team during Arsene Wenger’s reign.
His performance at the back of the pitch was so inspiring that he was given a two-year contract extension earlier in the year.
Monreal hasn’t played many games for the Gunners since Emery takes Charge of the club, however, the Gunners Spanish manager is confident his compatriot won’t be released by his employers.
Monreal, who recently returned from injury, has played 215 matches for the Gunners, scoring 10 goals in the process. He has two years left in his current contract with the North London club.
As at the time of this report, Barcelona haven’t made any official approach towards luring him to Camp Nou. We will keep you posted as events unfold as regards as the player’s future.
