Having signed up by Unai Emery during the summer transfer window, a relatively unknown midfielder Matteo Guendouzi was expected to link up with the Gunners U23 side this season while he work his way to the top in the coming season.
However, that’s wasn’t the case with the player as Unai Emery immediately listed him in his pre-season squad list and he didn’t disappoint throughout the tourney.
After his impressive performances during the pre-season campaign, Emery integrated the 19-year-old into his starting lineup in the first game of the season.
Though the Gunners lost 2-0 to a superior Manchester City side, the youngster was the liveliest Arsenal player on the field of play.
His display against the Citizens wasn’t a fluke as he put up a brilliant display against Chelsea in the second match of the season, of which they were equally defeated 3-2 by the Blues.
The youngster has been wonderful for the team since the start of the season and he was rewarded for his performance by the club’s faithfuls, who voted him as the best player for the month for August.
The former Lorient midfielder was in contention with Lacazette, and Alex Iwobi for the award, but the young Frenchman beat his teammates to the honour by accumulating 68% of the vote.
Guendouzi will be hoping to continue his fine form for the North London club as he hopes to become one of the best players in the League this season.
