Arsenal travel to the St James’ Park Stadium for their clash against the Magpies in two weeks time.
The Gunners are beginning to show that they are a force to reckon with when it comes to the race for Premier League title this season.
However, the game is set to break Premier League record as reports claimed that Video Assistant Referee (VAR) will be used for the first time on the League.
Since the technology came to existence couple of years back, many European Leagues have adopted the new way of refereeing but the Premier League are yet to officially accept it because of the irregularities battling system.
VAR was used at the World Cup in Russia but there many controversies as regards to its efficiency. Many calls that ought to be made were ignored by the VAR.
However, Arsenal clash with Rafa Benitez’s side will witness the VAR in action as the FA continue to consider whether to adopt the system or not.
Though VAR is going to feature in the game, the referee’s decision remains the ultimate and final decision. This means that VAR will have no effect on the outcome of the game, though, the referee might want to refer to the Video officiating personnel before making key decisions at the course of the game.
It is believed that the FA would vote among themselves to determine whether to adopt the system in the 2019-2020 football season, but before then, the football association wants to see how things turn out with the VAR at the St James’ Park,
