Arsenal fans couldn’t comprehend how their manager Unai Emery failed to sign a new winger during the summer transfer window.

The Gunners got five new players during the transaction period but none of them was a winger.

Though, Emery’s mission – during the window – was to improve his defensive setup, the Gunners supporters believed he should have completed a move for a winger, who will compete with Alex Iwobi and Danny Welbeck for a place in the team.

However, Unai Emery and the Gunners Sporting director Sven Mislintant are set to give their fans what they want as reports via Daily Mirror claimed that the former Paris St-German’s manager is eyeing a move for Lille winger Pepe, who recently extended his contract with the Ligue 1 side.

Pepe was wonderful for Lille throughout last season as he was able to score 13 goals in 36 matches.

It was reported during the summer window that Sevilla, Lyon, Southampton and Real Betis made enquiries over the player’s availability as they want to capture his signature before the close of the summer.

The same source further revealed that the Saints offered £12.5m for the player’s signature but it was turned down by Lille, who had initially rejected €35m from suitors.

The Gunners welcome Newcastle to the Emirates Stadium in two weeks time. They would be hoping to beat the Magpies so as to make it three wins from five games.
