We reported here last night that Arsenal want-away midfielder Aaron Ramsey is set to delay his contract extension till January so as to get an improved offer from the Gunners sporting director Sven Mislintant.

The Wales international will see his current contract with the North London club expire by the end of this season and Arsenal are doing all they could to see that he remains with them beyond this season.

While speaking with Daily Star on the player’s reluctance to sign new the deal, former Arsenal player Ray Parlor said Ramsey hasn’t renewed his contract because he wants to get the best deal for himself.

According to Parlor, the player knows he will be signing his last contract with the club, therefore, he wants to employ ‘Mesut Ozil’s mercenary tactics’ so as to get a big-money bid.

Parlor advised the Gunners to retain the Welshman because he is an important figure in Unai Emery’s team. Since Wilshere’s departure, the Welshman became the longest player in the team and the Gunners can’t afford to lose another homegrown player.

“He’s been there a long time, he does love the club, he does his best he can for the club and he scores some vital goals in cup competitions.” he said

It was reported that Chelsea, Barcelona, Manchester United and Liverpool were interested in his signature this summer as a result of his contract status.

Ramsey hasn’t been lively since the start of the season, though, he has featured in all the games played by the club.
