Liverpool Youngster Set For England’s Recall After Missing Out Of World Cup
Liverpool youngster Joe Gomez is set to return to the Three Lions for the first time since May when he was ruled out of action due to an ankle injury.
The youngster was one of the most consistent players in Southgate’s team heading to the World Cup in Russia but he was forced to pull out of the tournament due to the ankle injury he picked up while training at the Anfield Stadium.
However, according to BBC Sports, the player is set to be recalled by Southgate, who was present at the Selhurst Park during the game between Liverpool and Crystal Palace on Monday.
The player was strong at the back of the pitch alongside Van Dijk as they both helped the Reds to a 2-0 victory.
It is yet to be seen how the player would be slotted into the starting lineup as Southgate won’t risk dropping Harry Maguire, who was one of the best defenders in Russia, from his defensive setup.

Meanwhile, the British publication suggested that Chelsea outcast Gary Cahill could be made to pay for not being able to perform for the Blues so far this season as he might be dropped by Southgate.
Cahill, 33, is yet to appear in any Chelsea matches so far this season and he didn’t look like playing for the club anytime soon as Sarri impose so much trust in Christensen and David Luiz at the centre of the defence.
Southgate is expected to release his squad later this month as they prepare for Nations League opener against Spain at Wembley Stadium.
