Liverpool are on the verge of beating Arsenal to the services of Croatia defender Domagoj Vida, according to reports which broke out yesterday.
Turkish media outlet Aspor revealed that the world cup star has agreed to a two-year contract with the Reds and he’s expected to have his medicals any moment from now.
The 29-year-old player saw his market value increase this summer due to his sterling performances for his country during the FIFA World Cup in Russia. He helped the team to a second-place finish for the first time in their history.
Apart from seeing his value increases, Vida also attracts many suitors including Arsenal, West Ham, Everton and Liverpool – who are all keeping close tabs on his situation at Besiktas.
Liverpool had already signed five players so far this summer window but Jurgen Klopp still needs to find a trusted centre-back back to partner Van Dijk, whom he signed from Southampton during last summer market.
Arsenal are also believed to be a major party in the race to sign the Croat as Unai Emery wants more defenders in his team.
Though the former Paris St-German boss has gotten Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Matteo Guendouzi this summer, he is still unsatisfied with the quality he possesses at the back of the pitch.
