Chelsea Target Kostas Manolas has opened up to reporters about his desire to switch to one of the best clubs in Europe this summer.
The Roma defender has been a source of speculation since this start of the summer transfer window and he is tipped to be heading out of Serie A this season due to numerous offers coming in for his signature.
The Greek international still has a contract with Roma and it includes a £30m release clause.
Reports from Italy last month claimed that Chelsea are willing and ready to trigger the player’s release clause this summer, though they are yet to make any official dealings with the Serie A side for the 27-year-old player.
Manolas helped Roma to a semi-final finish in last season’s Champions League competition but he might be heading to another club where he would be guaranteed of winning trophies rather than finishing in the third position.
The Blues finished in the 5th position last season which automatically makes them ineligible to participate in next season’s Champions League competition.
Their inability to qualify for the European competition might dent their hope of luring the defender to the Stamford Bridge next season.
While reacting to the rumours linking him to the Blues and Bayern Munich, Manolas told reporters that it is natural to see big clubs vying for players who are performing perfectly and brilliantly.
He revealed his desire to play for a big club in the 2018-19 season, with Chelsea and Bayern Munich coming to the picture.
