Chelsea To Rival Liverpool For 31-year-old Star

Published

Schmeichel

Chelsea and Liverpool have reportedly shown their desires to lure Leicester City goaltender Schmeichel to their respective clubs this summer.

According to reports, the son of former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter is beginning to gain attention from top Premier League clubs due to his heroic displays for his European country at the ongoing Mundial.

Though Denmark failed to progress to the next round of the after losing to Croatia on Sunday, Schmeichel’s performance was lively as he saved Luka Modric’s penalty in regular time.

He was also on ground to save two spot kicks during shootouts but that wasn’t enough to see them through to the quarter-final of the competition as Christian Erikson missed from the spot.

Despite his world cup ouster, Liverpool and Chelsea have been convinced that he would be a good addition to their goalkeeping department.

With Thibaut Courtois’ future yet to be sorted out, the Blues are hoping they could convince Leicester City to let go of the wonderful netminder.

Liverpool want to bring an experience goalie to man the post ahead of next season and the 31-year-old netminder, who has played 295 matches for the Foxes, seems to be the man they are tipping for the job.

Just like Schmeichel, both clubs are also believed to be in contention for Roma and Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

Roma are reportedly demanding too much for the player’s signature and both clubs are ready to pull out of the race for his signature this summer.

EPL: Frank Lampard Reveals Why Chelsea Drew With Leicester City

Published

Lampard

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has had his say on the disappointing draw at home to Leicester City.

Lampard and his Chelsea players drew 1-1 with Leicester City at home to further extend their winless run at the start of the season to three games.

After the Leicester City game, Frank Lampard spoke to the media about the result as he pointed out that his players should have done better against the Foxes.

Lack of game management was responsible for the disappointing result according to ex-Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard.

The Blues legend also said that his team played well for the first 25 minutes and that it should be the blueprint for the rest of the season unlike the final 65 minutes of the game.

Frank Lampard also said that the performance against Manchester United was better than the one churned out by his players against the Brendan Rodgers-led Leicester City team.

The Manchester United game ended in a 4-0 defeat in what’s his first match as the new Chelsea manager having been appointed into the job this summer.

Marcus Rashford (2), substitute Daniel James and Anthony Martial were the goalscorers for the Red Devils.

Lampard and Chelsea played 2-2 with Liverpool in the UEFA Super Cup before they were beaten 5-4 on penalties in his second game as the new Chelsea manager.

The Leicester City clash in the Premier League is his third game at Chelsea.

David Luiz

New Arsenal signing David Luiz has revealed what Chelsea manager Frank Lampard told him before making the decision to move across London during this summer’s transfer window.

In an interview with ESPN Brasil, David Luiz confirmed that he had a conversation with Frank Lampard before arriving at the decision to leave for Arsenal.

According to him, Frank Lampard had a different plan and he had to leave Chelsea as a result.

David Luiz joined Arsenal in a deal reported to be around £8m.

The 32-year-old was the sixth and final signing of the summer for the Gunners.

He was handed a two-year contract until the end of the 2020/21 season.

David Luiz spent seven seasons over two spells either side of his time as a Paris Saint Germain (PSG) player.

He made his Arsenal debut on Saturday during the 2-1 win over Burnley in what was a Premier League game.

Chelsea Ask Top Defender To Leave This Summer

Premier League giants have reportedly asked one of their defenders to leave the club before the European transfer window ends.

Chelsea defender Davide Zappacosta is surplus to requirements at the club and the Italian international right-back has been told that he should look for a new team.

According to popular media outlet Goal, Chelsea have slapped an asking price of £23m on the former Torino defender though it remains to be seen whether interested clubs will be willing to spend that money on the player.

Davide Zappacosta became a Chelsea player in 2017 in a deal reported to be around €28m (£25m).

Italian Serie A giants AS Roma are interested in Zappacosta but the capital club wants a loan deal for the player rather than a permanent deal.

Davide Zappacosta made 35 appearances for Chelsea in his debut season at the club but his playing time suffered a great deal under compatriot and new Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri in the last campaign.

Sarri spent just one season as the Chelsea manager before he left the West London giants to take up the managerial job at Italian Serie A champions Juventus.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard sees young right-back Reece James as the second choice to Cesar Azpilicueta rather than Davide Zappacosta.
