Arsenal are one of the most active clubs in the current transfer window as they are reportedly on the verge of completing a double swoop for Sampdoria star Lucas Torreira and Freiburg’s defender Caglar Soyuncu.
The Gunners had already sealed a deal for Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno, in the same vein, Borussia Dortmund defender Stephan Lichtsteiner has also been confirmed as Arsenal player ahead of the upcoming season.
Caglar Soyuncu’s deal is almost done after the player revealed his desire to join Unai Emery at the Emirates Stadium.
According to the Freiburg star, Arsenal have tabled an offer for his services and he is hoping he could be allowed to join Gunners in the summer.
He told reporters that he has been praying that Freiburg sanction his switch to the Emirates Stadium as they have the final say over his future.
“I want Arsenal, God willing I will go to Arsenal or the Premier League but it all depends on Freiburg.” he said.
Soyuncu is willing to continue his development in Europe and he believes a move to the North London club would be a right step to take.
In other Arsenal transfer news, the Gunners are a step from signing Lucas Torreira, according to Sky Sports.
The Sampodria midfielder featured in 36 Serie A matches last season as he was solid at the middle of the park throughout the campaign.
Meanwhile, Sampodria president Carlo Osti confirmed to the press that the Uruguayan has been sold to the Gunners though, it hasn’t been officially announced by both clubs.
“(Today) we will have our first meeting with (manager Marco) Giampaolo. This is when our transfer window starts. An excellent player like Torreira has left us (for Arsenal), but we will replace him.” he said
