Chelsea’s legend Gianfranco Zola is reportedly set to join Maurizo Sarri in the managerial positions at the London club with news of manager Antonio Conte’s imminent departure from the club.
The Italian Manager’s future at Stamford Bridge remains uncertain amid reports the ex Juventus coach appears destined to depart the club for a return to his native Italy.
The Blues have widely been in the search for replacements with former manager Carlo Ancelotti, Maurizio Sarri and Laurent Blanc among the names being linked with the club’s managerial dugout.
According to the Sun, Maurizio Sarri have held primary talks with Chelsea on potentially becoming the club’s new manager despite still on contractual terms with Napoli and Chelsea yet to pay Conte’s release fee.
The British news outlet also claimed the FA cup winners were willing to pay the Sarri’s 8 million euros release clause and would also include fellow countryman Zola as part of Sarri’s backroom staff.
Zola, currently on punditry role at the World Cup, made over 200 appearances in a three years span at the West Londoners.
The Chelsea cult hero also has gained managerial experience, having held the reins at Watford, West Ham United and Birmingham City.
Zola is a legend Chelsea fans have been hoping to take up a leading role at the club.
