Serbia international player Lazar Markovic is reportedly set to put an end to his unsuccessful spell at Anfield Stadium this summer.

The former Benfica winger was captured by the Reds during Brendan Rodgers reign as the manager in 2014.

According to BBC in 2014, the winger moved from Benfica to Liverpool in a £20m deal but he failed to establish himself despite giving much game-time by Brendan Rodgers, who is now Celtic manager.

Markovic played 34 matches in his debut season in the League, scoring only three goals but that wasn’t enough to convince Jurgen Klopp to give him another chance to prove himself.

The German manager, who joined the Merseyside club in 2014, didn’t have plans for the winger as he continually loan him to Fenerbahce, Sporting, Hull City and Anderlecht in previous seasons.

According to Greek Newspaper Sdna, the 24-year-old winger is being tracked by Olympiakos. The Greek side are reportedly hoping to strengthen their squad ahead of next season, thereby picking interest in the winger and midfielder.

It is believed that Serie A side Fiorentina made efforts to sign during last winter window, but the Reds rejected their £16m offer.

However, Jurgen Klopp is now willing to listen to offers from any clubs who would be making a £16m move for his services.
