José Mourinho’s search for a new left-back continues as the summer transfer window begins. The Portuguese manager is desperately in search of two left-backs, who could also operate as a modern-day wing-back.
The former Real Madrid boss was linked with a move for Fulham’s bright prospect Ryan Sessegnon during last winter but he didn’t make any official approach to capture his signature. According to reports during the previous transfer period, Mourinho was monitoring Sessegnon’s progression with the Cottagers.
Though the Red Devils manager is reportedly set to make an official move for the 18-year-old versatile ball-winner, his bid could be rejected by Fulham, who just returned to the Premier League for the first time in recent years.
The Craven Cottage outfits will be hoping to maintain their Premier League status by the end of the upcoming season, therefore, they might be forced to reject offers from any suitor, irrespective of financial value present in the deal.
However, Mourinho is also tracking Celtic defender Kieran Tierney, hoping to lure him to Old Trafford should he fail to capture Ryan Sessegnon in the transfer window.
The Scotland international was a household name in Brendan Roger’s starting lineup throughout last season and reports suggest that Mourinho is keeping a close eye on the youngster as he hopes to seek a perfect replacement for Ashley Young, who is becoming too old to perform brilliantly at the left-back position next season.
