Eden Hazard was one of the best performers in the Blues 1-0 triumph over Manchester United in the FA Cup final last weekend.
Though the Belgian made the headline due to the penalty he converted to give the Blues their second trophy in two seasons, Rudiger’s performance was his best since he switched to Stamford Bridge last summer.
The German international was everywhere on the pitch as he curtailed United’s midfielders from having much space to operate.
Rudiger has been Chelsea’s flop this season, he has failed to live up to expectations in his debut season at Stamford Bridge.
With his blistering display against the Red Devils last Saturday, the much-criticized midfielder could see himself remain at the West London Club beyond this season despite reports linking him out of Chelsea.
His man-of-the-match display could also influence Eden Hazard’s decision over his future.
According to the Belgian during an interview with BT Sports, he will extend his contract with the club this summer should Rudiger continue with the display he put-on against United.
“I need Rudiger to play like this every game, then I’ll stay!” he jokingly revealed his plans to BT Sports.
Hazard’s future at Chelsea remains uncertain due to the club’s inability to qualify for next season’s Champions League. Real Madrid are keenly interested in reigniting their desire to lure him to Santiago Bernabeu this summer after Russia 2018 World Cup.
