Arsenal and Spain midfielder Santi Cazorla is all but set for a move out of the Emirates Stadium in the summer after seeing off his contract with the club.
The 33-year-old has had a spell to forget with the North London Club due to his recurring injury problems which ruled his plans of establishing himself as a regular player under Arsene Wenger.
Cazorla was one of the most lively midfielders in the League in 2016, until his unfortunate injury which took him out of action for 577 days in which he missed 103 matches played by Arsene Wenger’s men in all competitions.
Though the player returned to full fitness before the end of the just-concluded season, his return seems too late as he could not feature in a single match for the team.
Due to his late return to fitness, his contract with Arsenal will be expiring in the summer and the experienced midfielder has refused to pen a new deal with the club as he is ready to move on with his career elsewhere.
According to report, Cazorla will be joining Spanish side Villarreal in the upcoming pre-season tour, hoping to join them permanently in the summer.
Villarreal Ambassador Senna confirms that the Spaniard is in advance talks with the club so as to join them in their pre-season plans ahead of next season.
“But at the moment what I’ve said is that there are advanced negotiations between Santi Cazorla and Villarreal for the player to spend pre-season with the club, ” Senna said to reporters on Sunday.
Should he perform brilliantly with the club, he would be offered a new contract by the Spanish side, according to Senna.
