Manchester United want-away midfielder Marouane Fellaini is reportedly set to leave Old Trafford and Serie A giants AC Milan are the latest club hoping to sign the Belgian star this summer.
CalcioMercato reports that the former Scuddeto Champions are hoping to reinforce their midfield’s abilities ahead of next season by signing the 30-year-old player, though, they are yet to make any official approach towards his representative for negotiations.
The former Everton man joined the Red Devils in 2013 but he hasn’t really lived up to his billings throughout his stay with the Old Trafford outfits.
Just like other previous seasons, the Belgian is being sparingly used this season as he has only played 16 Premier League matches, scoring four goals in the process.
Though Fellaini is not Milan’s prime target this summer, the Ammazuri boss Rino Gattuso believes the player possess the physical and mental qualities he wants to see in the middle of the pitch.
Meanwhile, Mourinho is not willing to sanction the player’s speculated move out of the club in the summer as he rates him as one of the most important players in his team despite not using him frequently.
It was reported last week via Daily Mirror that the Portuguese manager would like to work with Fellaini for one more season and he has advised the club’s hierarchy to offer him a one-year extension.
