Mauricio Pochetino is set to get rid of some players in his squad by the end of the summer and Kenyan international Victor Wanyama could be affected by the manager’s decision.
The £27m-rated midfielder hasn’t been playing as a regular starter for the North London club since the start of the campaign and he is believed to be offloaded in the summer so as to create more space for players who could be making a switch to the Wembley stadium.
The Argentine manager is hoping to make a £100m-plus sweep for Lazio stars Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Ciro Immobile before the start of next season, therefore he wants to release some bit-part players- including Wanyama- so as to generate resources to fund his transfer plans.
Liverpool have been brilliant in the middle of the park this season but there is a need to add more quality holding midfielders to their squad if they must challenge for the League trophy in the upcoming season.
Victor Wanyama will surely be a perfect addition to the team considering his exploits for Tottenham in few matches he played for the Mauricio Pochetino’s side this term.
Though the Reds captain Jordan Henderson has been brilliant as a centre-midfielder for Jurgen Klopp’ side this season, Wanyama would surely bring more stability and physical presence to the team should he eventually joined the Merseyside club in the summer.
Meanwhile, Toby Alderweireld, Danny Rose, Moussa Sisson and Mousa Dembele are reportedly set to be part of the players who could be moving out of the North London club as part of Pochetino’s method of generating fund to finance his proposed move for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Ciro Immobile.
