Arsenal have reportedly joined the race for Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan and they could be the next destination for the 29-year-old player.
Manchester United were the first club to show interest in his signature having impressed José Mourinho with his stellar performances throughout the season. It is believed that the holding midfielder will provide Paul Pogba much space to perform as a playmaker, should the Red Devils successfully snatch him from the Serie A giants in the upcoming transfer period.
Though his progression in the game was not as speedy as he would have expected, Nainggolan has steadily grown to become one of the best midfielders in the world since he joined Roma from Cagliari in 2014.
With Michael Carrick’s retirement by the close of the season, coupled with Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera’s reported departure, the Portuguese manager will be hoping he beat Chelsea and Arsenal to the 29-year-old’s signature.
Arsenal are the latest club showing their desire to lure the team to the Emirates stadium in the summer. Luis Enrique- who rejected Chelsea offer- is reportedly going to take over from Arsene Wenger next season and he has made Nainggolan one of his top targets in the summer.
Jack Wilshere, Granit Xhaka and Ramsey are not as strong as the Roma player and the former Barcelona manager believes his addition to the North London club will help the Gunners retain the ball more than they did throughout this season.
It remains to be seen which club will eventually emerge as his next destination, but whoever wins the race will need to pay not less than £45million for his signature due to Roma’s asking price.
