Arsenal have moved a step further in their pursuit of Liverpool and Chelsea target Caglar Soyuncu as already held talks with the player over the possibility of moving to the North London club in the summer.
Arsene Wenger seems unhappy with his defenders this season as they concede cheaply throughout this term, the Frenchman man is, therefore, hoping to add more quality players to his squad at the back of the pitch before the start of the 2018-19.
Wenger 68, was linked with a move for Westbrom’s veteran defender Jonny Evans last transfer window but he was unsuccessful in his bid for the former Manchester United.
Wenger is no longer interested in the 36-year-old Irish international as he is reportedly in pole position to land Caglar Soyuncu during the summer transfer window.
Soyuncu 21, currently players for Freiburg in the German League and has been in fine form for both club and country so far this season and that has captured the attention of many European clubs including Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester clubs – City and United – and As Roma according to reports.
Selling the Turkish centre-back still remains a major doubt as Freiburg are yet to decide if they will sanction his move to the Emirates Stadium or they would love to renew his contract for some more seasons
Should Freiburg decide to cash in on the player, Arsenal and other suitors must be prepared to release nothing less than £30m for his signature due to the release-clause present in his contract agreement with the Bundesliga side.
