Man United manager Jose Mourinho has named Juventus defender Alex Sandro as his No.1 left-back target if he decides to let go of Luke Shaw in the summer, according to reports.
The Brazilian had been a major target for both Chelsea and United earlier this month, but his club side Juventus were able to fight off the interests with a hefty price tag.
Man United, however, decided against a move for a new left-back considering the improved form of Shaw which has seen him start 5 consecutive matches for the first time in 2 seasons before being dropped last time out.
Ashley Young emergence at left-back also influence the decision but according to new reports, Mourinho will seek a move for Sandro if Luke Shaw is unable to keep his good form going for the rest of the season.
The 22-year old England international has seen the one-year extension clause in his United contract activated by the club and will be looking to take advantage of the new trust his manager has found in him.
Man United have been linked with the likes of Danny Rose – who is very keen on a move to Old Trafford, Ryan Sessegnon – the Fulham teen prodigy, as well as Celtic’s Kieran Tierney all for the mentioned left-back role but Alex Sandro has been reportedly identified as the club’s No. 1 target as requested by their Portuguese manager.
Alex Sandro has a contract with Juventus that runs until the summer of 2020 and as such will not come cheap.
