According to reports, Manchester United now lead Chelsea and Liverpool in the race to sign Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri.
The 26-year-old Ivory Coast international has seen his popularity surge since the end of last season and was reportedly targeted by Spanish giants Barcelona but a deal never materialized.
Now he is being reported as a major target for Jose Mourinho and his Man United side.
The Red Devils are starring at a possible midfield crisis at the end of the season, with Marouane Fellaini so far rejecting contract extension talks and Michael Carrick retiring at the end of this campaign.
This has seen midfield reinforcements jump to the top of the list in recent times with a possible move for Seri this month being mooted.
The Ivory Coast central midfielder has 18 months left in his contract with the French side and is not keen on an extension.
This could see the club try to take him off their books as soon as possible and a £35 million bid (his reported release clause) is believed to be enough to make the move happen.
Considering the crazy amounts united have spent in recent windows that fee is relatively on the lower margins and will provide a little obstacle for the World’s wealthiest club.
Seri scored 7 league goals for Nice last season in 34 appearances but had scored just 1 goal in 6 appearances this campaign.
