Gremio midfielder Arthur Melo has been the subject of widespread interest from across for a while now with Premier League duo Manchester United and Chelsea as well as La Liga leaders Barcelona, all targeting a move for the Brazilian.
According to latest reports, the 21-year old has reached an agreement with the Spanish giants as he opts for a move to Camp Nou.
The Catalan club had been favourites to sign the impressive Brazilian youngster for a while now but Gremio had decided against a move when pictures of the player posing in a Barcelona jersey were discovered in December.
This, however, saw the other interested parties receives boosts as regards getting Melo.
He has however chosen the La Liga club as his preferred destination after he was convinced by the club to reject offers from elsewhere according to the reports.
Barcelona will now face the daunting task of convincing the Brazilian club to sell who had earlier stated that only a bid above €50 million will be enough to make them sanction a move.
Barcelona, however, are believed to value the player at €25 million and are hoping their plan to loan him back for the rest of the season will see the Brazilian club change their minds.
This, however, will offer a glimmer of hope to the likes of Man United and Chelsea who will be looking to hijack the deal.
