According to reports from the UK, Manchester United are set to rival fellow Premier League side Chelsea for the signing of Chilean international Arturo Vidal.
For a few weeks now the 30-year old midfield star has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge with manager Antonio Conte the obvious link – as he managed Vidal while at Juventus.
Although a January move has been ruled out, the imminent arrival of Schalke 04 midfielder Leon Goretzka to Allianz Arena is rumoured to mean Vidal will be surplus to requirement at Bayern with a summer move to Chelsea believed to be on.
However, new reports say their Premier League rivals Man United are gearing up to make a move for the player.
After just capturing his Chile international team mate Alexis. Sanchez, the Old Trafford side are willing to make Vidal only the second player from the South American nation to play for the Red Devils.
Man United are expected to sign a central midfield player in the summer window with Danilo of FC Porto and Fred of Shakhtar Donetsk also being targeted.
The presence of Sanchez, as well as Paul Pogba at Man United – with whom alongside Andrea Pirlo he formed a brilliant midfield understanding with at Turin – could lure the combative midfielder to Manchester.
Vidal’s contract with Bayern runs until the summer of 2019.
