Chelsea pull out of race to sign another Man united target

Reports within the last 42 hours had suggested that Premier League champions Chelsea have joined the race to sign Arsenal contract rebel Alexis Sanchez.

However new reports say the West London club has dropped their interest. without acting on it.

While the move seemed to make sense, considering the club’s obvious need for reinforcements in the attack, Sanchez’s wage demands have put off those in charge at Stamford Bridge.

The Chilean international is demanding between £350,000 and £400,000 from his new club, this, however, will alter Chelsea’s salary structure as their highest earner gets about half that on a weekly basis. And with some of their star players still in negotiations regarding a new deal, signing and paying a new player that hefty sum doesn’t seem like the way to go.

Sanchez turns 30 later this year and his lack of re-sale value is another reason while Chelsea have dropped their interest.

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte had earlier said he doesn’t believe his side are in the running to sign the former Barcelona star even with all the reports going on and that turned out to be accurate as the Chelsea transfer team continue to look elsewhere for their January attacking buy.

Chelsea face Norwich City in an FA Cup third round replay on Wednesday night after a goalless draw at Carrow Road earlier in the month, with new signing Ross Barkley set to miss out as he was discovered to be cup-tied.
