Premier League champions Chelsea have been reported to be in the market for a new striker on many occasions this month but are yet to sign one.
Reports broke earlier in the month that the London club are interested in West Ham United striker Andy Carroll.
The story was played down by many due to the 29-year old’s injury problems.
The link have re-surfaced with reports of the former Liverpool star topping Chelsea’s shortlist for the month.
The Stamford Bridge club’s need for new options in the attack has increased in the last few days as they have failed to score in their last 3 matches all ending in goalless draws.
The new report says the club are now considering a move for Andy Carroll as they feel he is the only available attainable striker in this month transfer window – as a move for Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez would involve a bidding war with the two Manchester clubs.
Andy Carroll has been enduring another injury-ravaged season so far but has made 14 appearances in all competitions for the Hammers with 2 goals scored.
West Ham United boss David Moyes is also in the market for a new forward and is believed to be open to the deal if Michy Batshuayi joins them on loan.
Chelsea are also reported to be targeting Crystal Palace forward Christian Benteke and Richmond Boakye – a Ghanaian forward who plays for Red Star Belgrade but both deals for both are at the moment only possible in the summer.
