German Bundesliga side Schalke 04 are still interested in signing Chelsea left-back Baba Rahman on loan, according to their head coach Domenico Tedesco.
Rahman was on loan at Schalke for the 2016/2017 but a serious knee injury while representing Ghana at the African Nations Cup in January 2017 cut short his spell with the club as he returned to Stamford Bridge.
The injury has kept him out of action until recently with the player now back in training.
Tedesco while giving an interview with Kicker, has now registered his club’s interest in taking the Ghanaian on another loan spell.
“One more player would be good for us, I am thinking about Abdul Rahman Baba for the left wing above all,” he said. “He still has a flat here in Gelsenkirchen, he knows Schalke and Schalke knows him.”
Rahman’s future at Chelsea especially under Antonio Conte – who branded the player as ‘too attacking’ when he first took over at the club – has received a lot of speculation despite the manager hinting at possibly giving the 23-year old a chance to recover at the club.
The left wing-back position is currently under-manned at Stamford Bridge with Marcos Alonso, the only senior player available.
This has led to The Blues being linked with a number of players especially Alex Sandro of Juventus. Rahman’s apparent fitness might just provide another alternative.
