Burnley defender James Tarkowski is a man in demand according to the Daily Star, as Chelsea have joined the list of clubs inquiring about the centre-half.
Reports last week suggested that Arsenal and Manchester City were considering moving for the former Oldham Athletic and Brentford defender. Both teams are looking to strengthen their respective defences in January and it now appears The Blues are also monitoring the situation.
Tarkowki has been a part of the very impressive Burnley backline alongside Ben Mee that has let in only 17 goals in the league this season which sees them in seventh place as they make an earlier unlikely push for Europe.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has been interested in adding a new defender to his squad in January but saw major target Virgil Van Dijk agree to join Liverpool from Southampton for a fee of ₤75 million.
25-year old Englishman James Tarkowski now appears to be a good and relatively cheaper target for Chelsea but they will have to face massive competition for the defender.
Tarkowski signed for Burnley from Brentford in early 2016 but didn’t break consistently into the starting XI at Turf Moor until the departure of Michael Keane to Everton in the summer and has hugely impressed this season. He has made 18 appearances in the league this season – one less than the entirety of last season – averaging 3 defensive actions per game.
