After Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho earlier this week insisted that the club needs to spend more in the transfer market to keep up with rivals Manchester City, reports have claimed that the Portuguese manager has ordered a hugely ambitious swoop for Paris Saint Germain attacker Kylian Mbappe.
This is according to Spanish weekly sports magazine Don Balon, the reports say United are preparing a ₤221 million bid for the player at the request of Mourinho but are not willing to go any higher.
The deal will appear strange given the fact that Mbappe, 19, only signed for PSG in the summer. The truth is Mbappe is still technically a Monaco player and is only on loan at PSG but there is an option for the Paris club to sign the teenage star permanently in the summer for ₤165.7 million.
Manchester United are now looking to hijack the deal with a mega bid of their own with the boss said to be a huge admirer of the forward.
The deal, however, seems hugely ambitious on the part of Mourinho who is said to be willing to make the French man the undisputed star at Old Trafford which at the moment is not possible at PSG with the presence of Neymar.
Mbappe is regarded as THE hottest prospect in world football at the moment and is known to be a hugely ambitious young man and Man United will be looking to use their massive standing in world football to convince him into a move. PSG might be strong financially but still, lag behind the huge clubs in European football.
