17-year old Chelsea defender Ethan Ampadu is now a member of the first team squad at the club according to manager Antonio Conte.
The youngster’s reputation continues to grow after a very assured performance against Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals. He had earlier thanked manager, Conte, for the chance and trust shown in him and promised to continue to perform.
The manager on his part has been left impressed with the maturity and composure shown by the teenager and has no fears concerning rushing his development as he sees him as a member of the first team already and he is expected to be named amongst the substitutes for the club’s boxing day tie.
“He trains with us every day, and is a part of our squad,” Conte said ahead of his side’s home time against Brighton and Hove Albion on Boxing day. “I have to try to make the best decision but, for sure, I can count on him.”
Ampadu is a Wales international, a country he is eligible to play for as his mother is Welsh. He was also eligible to represent England, Republic of Ireland and Ghana. He is the son of former Arsenal and Swansea City midfielder Kwame Ampadu, who is currently with Arsenal U18s as a coach.
The Youngster has been likened to Chelsea star David Luiz for his looks as he carries a similar hairstyle but also in playing style. He can play at the back and also in defensive midfield.
