Barcelona is set to battle Chelsea for the services of Italian defender Leonardo Bonucci.
The 30-year old is regarded as one of the best in the world and was part of the Juventus team that dominated the domestic scene in Italy over the last 5 years and also making it to 2 Champions league finals in 3 years.
The center-back joined fellow Italian side AC Milan in the summer in a ₤30 million deal but the move hasn’t worked out as planned, as both player and club have struggled in the league this season, with the Rossoneri currently in the bottom half of the table.
Chelsea have hopes of taking advantage of the situation to bring Bonuccci to London this winter and are set to use his relationship with their Italian manager to convince him and his representatives into making the move.
The Blues however now face competition from the Catalan giants who are believed to be enquiring into the possibility of a deal with AC Milan as they prepare to do without Javier Mascherano who is on his way to China in January.
Also, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is believed to have put the defender at the top of his center-back wish-list for the upcoming January window – a list that also contains Jonny Evans and Virgil Van Dijk.
With these 3 European giants all interested in a move for the star player, it is unknown if Milan will be able to hold on to their defender beyond the month of January.
