Reports of Chelsea joining the number of teams interested in signing Monaco’s French attacker Thomas Lemar surfaced earlier in the month.
Latest news reports now suggest that the English club are still keen on the move and are set to launch a cash + player bid for the star Frenchman that would see Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi go the other way.
Chelsea boss, Antonio Conte is looking to bolster his squad in the January transfer window and the attack is an area he is seeking such reinforcements.
The Italian manager is said to have approved a ₤80 million deal for the forward – and reports now suggest Monaco are interested in a loan move for Batshuayi. This will seem to be no hindrance at all for the manager, who is believed not to fancy the Belgian international, who will mostly be keen on the move himself.
Furthermore, since former Chelsea Technical director now conducts transfer dealings at the Principality club, the deal appears to be a real possibility particularly as he was the chief orchestrator of Batshuayi’s move to Chelsea.
If this deal can be completed it will represent a major win for the English champions as they would have acquired a major talent and at the same time given a chance for another star to get much needed game time.
The Blues will, however, face competition from fellow Premier League sides Arsenal and Liverpool who are long term admirers of the Monaco star.
