According to reports in the UK, Chelsea Football Club has offered goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois a new deal to remain at Stamford Bridge.
The Belgian shot stopper is known to have plans to return to Spain in the future and Spanish giants Real Madrid have been long-term admirers of his and according to reports are ready to bring the goalkeeper to the Bernabeu in the summer.
Chelsea has now offered the 25-year old a huge new deal that would see him become one of the highest paid goalkeepers in world football. The deal is said to be in line with Courtois wage demands that would see him earn as much as fellow goalkeeper David De Gea of Manchester United. The deal will run until 2023 with a weekly wage of ₤200,000.
Courtois’ current contract runs out in the summer of 2019 and that had put the club in a tight spot as the goalkeeper had turned down earlier offers of a new deal.
The reports, however, suggest that the club is quite confident that their player will sign the new deal and have since cooled their interest in Stoke City’s Jack Butland.
Courtois is currently on a ₤100,000 a week salary and will get a 100% increase if he decides to put pen to paper on a new deal.
Fellow Belgian Eden Hazard is another one of Chelsea stars that has refused a new deal in recent times but the club is planning talks to tie the superstar attacker to a fresh contract agreement.
