Chelsea return to action when they host fellow top flight side Bournemouth in a Carabao Cup quarter final tie on Wednesday night.
The Blues have been inconsistent in their performances this season but will be looking to continue their good league cup run that has seen them dispatch of Nottingham Forest and Everton 5-1 and 2-1 respectively earlier in the competition at Stamford Bridge.
Antonio Conte has no fresh injury worries ahead of this one but David Luiz is set to be absent again while Marcos Alonso will serve a one-match ban due to an accumulation of yellow cards.
Conte is set to hand a start to young Brazilian Kenedy at left wing-back in what will be his third in the competition this season. Other fringe stars are set to play a part for the hosts including; Michy Batshuayi, Callum Hudson Odoi, Dujon Sterling and Ethan Ampadu.
Michy Batshuayi is one who has been in the news recently as he seeks a loan move away from the club in January but this opportunity might just be a catalyst to improve his chances at the club if he decides to stay particularly with Alvaro Morata suffering a dip in form.
The Carabao Cup provides a first chance for silverware and Conte is determined to make through to the next phase.
“Every competition is serious, our task is to try to win the game, to reach the semi-final,” he said.
