Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil, has been rumoured to be a transfer target of Manchester United boss, Jose Mourinho. Both men worked together during their time at Real Madrid and are said to still share a lot of mutual respect.
New reports now suggest that Manchester United can sign Ozil for as little as ₤8 million but they will have to wait until the summer.
The German international will be out of contract at the Emirates by the end of the season, with Mourinho said to be closely monitoring the player with the view of bolstering his attacking options.
Man United will of course like to sign the 29-year old next month but with Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger, having made it clear that the club will not entertain any bids for Ozil and Manchester City Alexis Sanchez who happens to be in exactly the same situation, it looks highly unlikely.
The Arsenal manager could choose to cash in on Ozil in the winter transfer window but is apparently ready to lose the star for free, after paying ₤42 million to Real Madrid for his services four years ago.
The bargain fee of ₤8 million being quoted by the reports is not in form of a transfer fee but a signing on fee to be given to representatives of the German star.
The reports also say Arsenal are ready to pay ₤4 million to the said representatives if Ozil signs a new contract with the club but they are holding out for the summer move away with United offering to pay double that.
