Manchester United have now secured back to back victories, as they try to put their derby day loss firmly behind them. The Red Devils secured the second of these victories on Sunday afternoon when they visited the Hawthorns.
It ended 2-1, as first half goals from Romelu Lukaku and Jesse Lingard gave the visitors a seemingly unassailable lead against a West Bromwich Albion that has struggled in front of goal this season. Although the hosts did pull one back in the second half thanks to Gareth Barry, United held on to secure all 3 points as they keep the deficit to rivals city at 11 points.
However, an injury to stand-in captain, Antonio Valencia, put a dent on the result. The Ecuadorian picked up an apparent hamstring injury and was replaced by Marcos Rojo.
The injury comes at a bad time for United as they hope to push city all the way in the title race. Valencia has been having a phenomenal season at right-back this season, cementing his status as one of the best in the league.
United, however, do have adequate cover in that position with Ashley and Matteo Darmian able to hold their own at right back. It is so far unknown when Valencia will return.
