Mateo Kovacic

Manchester United are preparing a bid said to be about ₤27 million for Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic’ in January.

The Croatia international is being targeted as a player to help bolster the club’s midfield as they prepare to be without Marouane Fellaini and Michael Carrick in the future.

According to reports in Spain, United are looking into the possibility of a deal with the recently re-crown World Champions and they believe the fee of ₤27 million will be enough to convince the Madrid-based club.

The 23-year old has been unable to live up to expectations in the Bernabeu since signing from Inter Milan in 2015.

He has barely featured this season as he is constantly kept out the team by regulars Casemiro, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos.

Despite his relative exile at Madrid, Kovacic still has attributes needed to be the perfect midfield player with his ability to keep the ball and passing range chief among them. With United failing so far to convince Marouane Fellaini to remain at the club and Michael Carrick getting ever closer to the end of his United career, the club is seemingly planning for their departures with this move for Kovacic.

Time will tell if a January move will be successful or if they might have to hold off until the summer.

Wilfried Zaha

Europa League winners Chelsea are reportedly keen to sign Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha during the January transfer market which opens again in the next few weeks.

According to The Independent, Chelsea want to sign the in-form Zaha if their transfer ban is overturned at the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS).

Chelsea are in the midst of a two-window transfer ban imposed on them by world football’s governing body FIFA due to their culpability in the signing of underage players.

The Blues had earlier made an appeal to FIFA over the transfer ban and it was thrown out thereby prompting them to take the matter to CAS.

Chelsea were unable to sign players in the summer as they served the first part of the punishment.

They will serve the second part of the punishment in the January transfer window if the ban is not overturned.

Wilfried Zaha was a transfer target for both Everton and Arsenal in the summer but the two clubs were unable to produce the £80m transfer fee ended to sign him.

Recent reports claimed that Crystal Palace have slammed a £70m asking price on him ahead of January transfer window.

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba will have to wait for his dream move to Real Madrid if reports coming out of the media is anything to go by.

According to sources close to ESPN, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez won’t spend more than €50m on Paul Pogba and that would effectively rule out a move for him.

Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo had earlier talked about what is needed to sign Paul Pogba from Manchester United.

It was disclosed that Real Madrid will have to pay at least £120m to prise Paul Pogba away from the Red Devils.

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is a big fan of his compatriot Pogba and he pushed for his transfer in the summer but nothing tangible came out of it partly due to the financial implications of a possible transfer for him.

Paul Pogba previously talked about Real Madrid in glowing terms and he might have to wait for his chance to join the Los Merengues.

The Frenchman is currently out injured with an ankle problem that has restricted him to just six games this season.

He could make his return from injury for the blockbuster Manchester Derby clash in the Premier League this weekend.

Europa League winners Chelsea are free to sign players in the January transfer window after their transfer ban was lifted earlier today.

Chelsea were given a two-window transfer ban by FIFA earlier this year for their involvement with underage players and that prompted them to take the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) after their appeal to FIFA was turned down.

This is according to the newest reports emanating from the German media which revealed that Mauricio Pochettino won’t be the man to replace Niko Kovac at Bayern Munich.

Apart from Mauricio Pochettino who lost his job at Spurs last month and was replaced by Jose Mourinho, the likes of Maximiliano Allegri, Arsene Wenger, Ralf Rangnick and Thomas Tuchel have been linked with the Bayern Munich job.

Pochettino was sacked by Tottenham Hotspur last month after he led the team to their worst start in the Premier League for many years.
