Manchester United bounced back from their derby defeat with a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth on Wednesday night at Old Trafford.
After the game, manager Jose Mourinho shed some light on the players on the club’s injury list, chief amongst those out is Ivory Coast international defender Eric Bailly.
Bailly was injured while on international duty and the Red Devils’ boss has stated the defender might have to undergo a surgery at some point.
“I think his injury is serious.” Mourinho said, “I don’t know (how long he will be out) but his is an injury that comes from the last time he went with the international team and then we are trying a conservative treatment. But if the conservative treatment is not resulting, probably he will have a surgery procedure but let’s wait a little bit more.”
The 23-year old has featured only 10 times for the Old Trafford giants this season due to some minor injuries. This current layoff however, appears to be serious. He suffered this injury during his nation’s World cup qualifier against Mali in October but made an appearance for United on November 5, his last before succumbing to the injury.
Bailly will be a major miss for United as he is seen my many has the club’s top defending option.
