Chelsea consolidated their 3rd place position on the Premier League table with a 3-1 victory over Huddersfield in midweek. They face a tricky home tie against Southampton this weekend, looking to build on their midweek performance.

The Saints suffered a 4-1 loss at home to Leicester last time out and will be looking to bounce back at Stamford Bridge.

Early team news shows that defender David Luiz will be absent as he continues to recover from a knee injury. Danny Drinkwater and Michy Batshuayi are back in training and could take part at some stage meanwhile striker Alvaro Morata who missed the trip to Huddersfield is expected to be fit for this one.

Manager Antonio Conte is expected to continue with the 3-4-3 formation he deployed against Huddersfield.

Amongst changes expected to be made by Conte; skipper Gary Cahill who sat out the victory over Huddersfield is to return for this home tie. Cesc Fabregas is expected to replace Tiemoue Bakayoko, who had a strong game on Tuesday night, due to the added creativity he provides. With Morata’s expected return, Pedro will be the one to drop out in attack with Willian keeping his place in the starting lineup.

Predicted Starting XI
Thibaut Courtois
Cesar Azpilicueta Andreas Christensen Gary Cahill
Victor Moses N’golo Kante Cesc Fabregas Marcos Alonso
Willian Alvaro Morata Eden Hazard
